Just picked the 2 track unit up from a local dealer the other day. There is warranty on the deck but I thought I'd post here first incase it's somthing simple?.
I'm fairly new to reel to reel so hope these questions don't sound to lame!.
I've been taping vinyl to reel and the first couple of tapes came out perfect at 7.5 ips.I'm using 7" reels for now.
I made a tape today and I hear a distinct speed or pich warrble on guitar notes. My turntable is fine (I checked the speed)almost like it's taping too slow.I have the reel size set on small, and the variable speed button is engaged but I just had it centered while taping.I didn't try to adjust the speed. It sounded fine while taping though.
Could there be a problem with the tape tension arm?,or maybe it is the tape itself,(Maxell udxl 35-90b).
Before contacting the seller I'd sure like to fix it myself if possible.
Btw,I have the owners and service manual as well.I love this deck and want to figure this out.Thanks,Rob.
