I'm no expert on this deck, so please, wait for better responses, butI remember that your issue may be originated from a broken lamp. This small bulb makes light that passes through a wheel and is read by a light sensor. The deck belives the wheel doesn't run, and stops the play as consequence.
Open de deck, search for the lamp, confirm what I say and replace it.
You've been probably lucky. It's an easy repare.
