I'm thinking of0. get another shell. take out its tape and leave it unmounted.
1. cut the original tape at the begining, without breaking the original shell.
2 .Attach the tape to one reel outside the othe cassette shell
3 Assemble the other cassette. the tape gets out from one shell and gets into the other.
3. Rewind (manually) up to the end
4. Cut the tape at the very end.
5. use the second reel from the other shell to place the tape.
6. mount the tape shell completely.
7. enjoy.Have I got to say that the resulting tape will be SHORTER ??
