I think it would be OK...The 34s I've worked with in the past were not bad units at all. But, as with all things, there's a "gotcha": if I remember right, the 34 does not have a 2 track option, therefore if you are wanting to send master tapes elsewhere for whatever reason, there may be playback compatability issues.I've tried transfering some tapes recorded on older 2 tracks with 4 track systems...the stereo feed comes out tracks 1/2 in mono proper direction, tracks 3/4 in mono in reverse.
You may be better off having a dedicated two track for your masters if you plan on sending the actual tapes elsewhere for further work...
