I just landed an AMAZING deal on a 1/4" Studer A820 deck (my dream deck, been dying for one for FOREVER). Having heard the improvements from using an outboard head amp I want to do the same for the 820. I LOVE the Manleys but don't want to go that route without examining my other options first. I have the option to have the 820 modified by Tim de Paravicini at EAR; ATR Service has a package for the 820 that includes their Class A Aria electronics and hi-z heads, or I can do the Manley/JRF thing again. I've also heard of Cello electronics but can't find anything on 'em. My hope is that someone's compared the Manley Tapehead to the Arias and can offer an opinion.
