I bought one about 1978. It had the mechanical counter. The machine arrived with the hold back tension way too low and it had to be reset. Nice machine with a number of FETs in the signal path and plenty of calibration presets. The heads do wear rather rapidly because of the soft iron laminations used. Mine had four heads (an additional 1/4 track playback head and a switch to select. Don't buy one that was used in a radio broadcast station. It's probably worn out. Good luck! Ray
