I also had Scotch oxide remain stuck to the adjacent layer of backcoating. Fortunately, I discovered this particular problem early in my baking tests, when I disassembled a reel to throw away the tape (it was a Barbra Streisand LP copy) because I wanted the reel. This is why I recommend to NOT follow advice regarding doing a "slow wind" bypassing the heads and stationary guides before baking. If the tape separates, you're screwed.I read the link on Wendy Carlos' site, among several others, before I built my oven and starting baking. Everything is working perfectly!
