OK, sticky tapes are BAD, BAD, BAD! Sticky tapes were made in the late'70s and early '80s?Was it all brands or just Ampex? Are there brands you can buy (used) where you don't have to worry about this? I gather there is somebody selling brand new tapes, but I assume they are rather pricey?
And if I want to buy used, how do I tell the '70-'80s tapes from, say the early '70s tapes or the late '80s tapes? (I don't believe I've ever seen the age of the tape listed in an ebay auction...)
