Hello?
What's the question?
If the comment is that VA is down, we know. I fixed it yet again. If I knew how to fix it completely, it'd be fixed. And it's not that we aren't trying. I've profiled the software, tested the locking routines and everything works. I can't find the problem.
We're down to a couple options. One, rewrite some of the routines to be both faster and more robust. That's one thing that I've been working on. I believe that double checking the file read to be sure that I didn't get a partial file might mask the problem or at least, allow recovery as it will keep trying until it's pretty sure that it got the entire file.
Next, I've speeding up the thread process and write process.
However, the code changes, while they should avoid complete whacking of the index, will only mask the problem as the core issue is that file locking doesn't work sometimes. I'll have logging code to track how often the file gets re-read and the software will alert me if it fails after 10 tries.
The other concern is that because the problem is random and shouldn't be possible, if the logging shows that the problem doesn't get fixed, then we need to consider a webserver software upgrade which needs to be tested. I'm in the process of redeploying our old web server as a DNS/Mail server along with creating a test bed so I can ensure that the code before I upgrade the live www server.
Basically, this issue has been getting a ton of attention for months.
