No, the Image Galleries don't get deleted, they just don't appear on the index when the membership expires. What baffles me is why the latest contribution didn't update your user profile. I checked a few other recent ones and the same thing, nothing is getting updated....oh well, a new bug to fix and I wonder how long it's been broken.
Anyway, I just ran the manual update and you're good to good. Sorry for the delay.
