I have been kicking an idea like this around for a while now. There is one feature I always thought would be neat in a user-created database, and I wish Freedb had it. It is based on the old Similarities Engine (anybody remember this?).
Basically, users would upload their collection listing. Collections would be compared and the frequency of titles associated with each other would be counted. This would allow me to discover new music that I like based on my collection's similarities to other users' collections. For example, many people that have Nick Drake and Chopin in their collection also tend to have Chet Baker. I have Nick and Chopin, so maybe I would like Chet, too (and I do!).
This would be a replacement to the good old days when you could go into a record store and find a human being who could do this ;)Cody
