You know, Brian it would be helpful if you engaged your brain a little bit before you opened your mouth or started typing your spew.First, your precious thread is on page 2 of the tubes asylum -- which is why you'll not find it in the archives. If you bothered to look, you would have noticed at the top of the page is the link "next page" which takes you to the second active page of any of the boards. This is set up so that the first page of any active board is automatically limited in size. That way, folks with low datarate connections don't have to wait forever for the first page to load. As the first page fills, the excess automatically spills over to the second page. Later, archiving is done off the second page.
But the second thing that you should have done is read the content rules before you went off on your rant about the AI preamp, NOS tubes, 6922's etc. You admitted that you have no personal experience with any of this, but then proceeded to connect a number of dots to reach your conclusion that AI preamps are inferior products, baited the folks at AI and then posted the results to start a thread. For example, the FAQ that you paraphrased simply re-states what a lot of manufacturers say right up front: if you choose to do tube rolling, we're not responsible for what happens next. We design our products to work with a specified tube from a specified source. The FAQ says that AI's design does not seem to work well with NOS tubes. There's nothing wrong with that, contrary to what you suggest. Would you suggest that a car is defective because you can't use any size tire on the wheel, or that a car spec'ed for Z-rated tires is defective because H-rated tires on that car might have a tendency to blow out at speed?
Here's the relevant text of the rules which you chose to ignore or didn't read:
"As a general rule, avoid repeating vague and unsubstantiated rumors about someone or some company. Stick to your experiences and your opinions, based on what you know not what you have heard on the grapevine."
Now this would all be harmless enough, if annoying, but for two facts. Fact number one is that AA is an international forum that has participants from all over the world who are interested in audio. And fact number two is that a number of people make their living designing, building and selling AI electronics, which you have disparaged -- and you've just jeopardized their meal ticket. In the grown up world, which you may or may not be a part of, people get sued for that sort of behavior.
So, unless you want AI to own all of your teddy bears, toy trains, roller skates, Big Wheels and bubble gum machines, I suggest you knock it off.
My job on the Bored is to see that neither AI nor any other person who is falsely disparaged on AA's Boards decides that he/it has a desire to own AA as compensation for the insult. Now, I have a lot of tools at my disposal to accomplish that, but one of them is the "content rules." That's why the content rules say what they say; and that's why people should read and follow them.
And, BTW, not only can we delete posts or threads, we also can -- and do -- ban people who don't follow the rules.
