To be sure, it is a weak magnet. I wasn't so sure at first, but when I placed a sheet of mumetal foil next to it, snapped into place. Mind you, my system is in storage, so I am basing my observations on a relatively small LCD set. However I did give somemumetal to the guy who let me borrow the CLC. I listened to his sytems, and the effect was immediate upon adding the mumetal: bigger soundstage, quieter background, better tonalities and harmonic structure.
As for the video, the effect was manifested by better color saturation, and higher black levels: giving the set a more vivid presentation. things like stranding in hair become more apparent.
Note: I did not add any magnets at all. Mumetal is a highly permeable nickel alloy. I have sheets of foil 15 thousandths thick which I use for various experiments and magnetic field channeling.
