I think this was covered recently in the asylum - not sure which one tho. As for WE's claims of 40k hours of 300B tube life, I am pretty sure that is at low-ish (300V, 60mA) dissipation; I think Thorsten stated this some time ago. OTOH, Paul Joppa, who is infinitely more knowledgeable than I (BTW, his posts are most informative!) can not recall an exact dissipation for the 40k hours figure.

Personally, my feeling is that it varies between manufacturers (hell, some crap out not long after purchase due to design and manufacture problems) and is of course dependant on the dissipation you run them at.

I guess this does not directly provide you with an answer, but hopefully helps in some small way.
