gopies, hi. If you are wanting sublime refinement it would be wise to widen your considerations to include the stellar low mu triodes: 45 50 2A3 300B PX25 et al. Even combinations of same: parallel tubes in SET, single or parallel tubes in push-pull can work magic. The WAVAC uses the Shishido circuit - research it. It uses a beam power tube to drive an inverted interstage transformer to allow for the transmitting type tube, 805, to be run where it can draw grid current. The Cary employees a 300B to drive the 845/211 via interstage transformer where it runs into Class A2 - drawing grid current. Both amps are in highly attractive packaging. Do some more listening. Do some more researching. Are you making your decision based on how it looks or how it sounds? Hopefully on how it sounds. Pay attention to what your ears tell you.
