I love the sound of my new (old) ming da 805, but have noticed two strange things. One 805 is a different brand and age from the other, and the newer one's filament glows brighter than the other. Is it normal tolerance for one to be brighter? I guess I could switch them but if the bias was set to the current arrangements, I don't want to mess around. Second, when I shut the amp off, and the bright filaments go out, the plates show a dull red uniformily across the surface. It actually seems to increase over a few seconds before dissipating entirely. I wrote ming da but they are no help whatsoever. They want me to pack it up and send it back to them so FEDEX can break another tube in route. If anybody has any ideas about this, I am all ears. During normal operation, the plates are certainly not red enough to see against the bright filaments, and may not be turning red at all until the power is cut. Thank you. --Tom in AZ
