Aside from the the fact that electron does not really "orbit" the nucleus like a satellite going around the Earth, it is the electrostatic force from the positively-charged protons in the nucleus that keeps the electron in the vicinity of the nucleus, confined to a certain orbital 'cloud' depending on the energy level of the electron.
