going against known science is a big step, but it is also what advances knowledge. I concur that the brain is too subjective to retain aural memory to any practical use in hi fi.
I can remember what middle "C" on the piano sounds like because I have taught my brain it was important.
A musician has a sound because of how the body and mind interact with the instrument , not because they are using non specific long term memory .
a musician is doing three things when playing, listening to see if the sound being producing in the moment is as desired , while also thinking ahead to what the next note needs to sound like, and how to effect that sound. it is instantaneous , not a studied concentration of past sound. Thus my rejection of this speculation that the brain has objective hearing capabilities, it simply didn't evolve to value such needs.
There are very entertaining audiophile "experts" who can spin a tale or two that I wouldn't trust to tell me the correct time of day .
most audiophiles would be well served to know a bit about basic electronic principles and how human hearing is only a subjective process of the mind.
