Re: Analysis of "Freezer Effect" sample files - if you're interested.

Happened to chance upon this site today, been a month since the last reply.

To Mr Presto,

What I have posted was in the mympxplayer.org forum. I did not post any results on this site.

What I have posted was what I heard and observed. I did not do any fade-in or fade-out effects. Whatever effects I have used are all stated very clearly in the thread.

I seriously do not know why people keep saying that there is a fade-in effect when there isin't. What happened was I clicked on the record button 1-2 seconds earlier before I hit the play button on my player. So there was a blank silence before the music started. There IS a significant difference between the 3 songs, where the beginning had slight distortions for the Before, and almost none for the After. This was common for all the 6 sample clips.

Both Before and After test/record conditions are the same. OK, I need to state this just in case some smart ass starts to question into some weird conditions.
State: 1. The atmospheric temperature maybe different.
2. The atmospheric pressure maybe different.
3. The room lighting maybe different.
4. I maybe standing or sitting whilst performing the test.
It doesn't make any sense, but you get the idea. ONLY those conditions I have stated in the thread are the same. The others maybe different.

The bottom line, I have posted the results as my own experimental response to the "freezer effect". I have not cited any references as I could not explain fully why it works. I have not used any scientific or benchmarked or calibrated equipment as your average Joe would not have any of these equipment lying around in their garage.

If you feel a need to challenge my results, by all means buy your own player and perform the "freezer effect" test WITH your CERTIFIED & REFFERENCED test standards to IEEE or whatever. I'm NOT gonna send you my laptop and player for you to do the test (as you mentioned earlier in one of the replies). I don't intend to get a Nobel Prize outta this, and the results I have posted are merely done as a "hobby" and "curiosity" as what i like to think of it as.

Rather than sitting behind the screen and criticizing about everything, why don't you perform the test yourself? Let us know of the SCIENTIFIC & BENCHMARKED test results you have.

I have not gone around posting my results all over. As I know that I can't explain the effects of the freezing had on my player.

Your replies to my results gives me the impression that you are just regurgitating some definitions and explanations from some textbooks or reference books.

If you are really so knowledgeable (from the way you bombarded with all the A/D D/A conversion stuff), you should know very well that Practical and Theoretical calculations/results are never the same, well at least in some engineering context.

Regards,
lattesurf
