Do you also wish you could be an audiophile? ... what gives, hope it's not a money thing.""

It's a priority thing mainly. I do not have the time to devote. Nor, the space.

Oh if you come up with more cable designs I'd be more than willing to give them a listen for you....LOL""

The lol at the end seems awkward...I will assume the statement is sincere.

What are you looking for?

1. Cable Z 8 ohms, L 10 nH/ft, C 288 pf/ft, guage equivalent to #14 copper wire. This is double braid.

2. Cable z 2.6 ohms, L 5.2 nH/ft, C 800 pf/ft, guage equiv to #18. This is half inch wide copper ribbon, with about 4 mils Kapton between. Resistance is 13 milliohms per foot for the pair.

3. Valhalla reference equivalent, using 4 half inch wide ribbons. They run true out to 100Khz, the limit of my equipment.. about 12 pf/ft, 96 nH per foot. (note nordost's site has 9.6 uH per foot, this is incorrect, a typo). Because my source ribbon is 3 mils, I made a guage equiv to 2 times #18awg, or 6.5 milliohms per foot for the cable.. Cable Z of 89 ohms.

4. Cat 5, cable z = 100 ohms/n...n the number of pairs.

For #2 and #3, it's easy enough to beef the cables up. I used on-hand 3 mil copper ribbon, but I have some 5 mil sheet that was used during home reno as a termite shield, the roll was leftover, 6 or 8 inches wide. So I know 5 mil is easily available should anyone wish to try a build. Going thicker, to 10 or 20 mil copper, would really bolster the guage, but #2 starts to get very cranky when you try to bend it.

Cheers, John

ps..had to edit to insert milli in the ohms, duh..
