There has to be millions of blogs out there on the web. The vast majority seem to be personal blogs that nobody reads. But a relatively small number of blogs are hugely popular (e.g. Slashdot).I do read blogs occasionally, but not as much as I used to in the mid-late 90s. One of my current favorites is the Progressive Rock Archives: http://www.progarchives.com/. Like most big blogs, it grew beyond a basic blog to include a huge repository of information and dedicated discussion forums.
I have mixed feelings about Wikipedia. It is a very convenient source of information, but I think it's gotten so big so fast that much of the information there has not had the level of scrutiny that the founders intended. I don't think the information there is any more complete, correct, or balanced than other sources on the web. But because it's on Wikipedia people will treat it as authoritative. I fear it could also become a battleground over which different groups fight to have their version of truth represented. That means Wikipedia could become a great source of misinformation and/or propaganda.

P.S. This should really be in Water Cooler not Prop Head.
