Only for cases in the extreme would it be necessary to go beyond what he has found from that experience.
If you review my loop coupling diagram, you can see that his recommendation of the coupling cap does indeed break the bulk of the line cord induced input error up to very high haversine harmonics, as the loop resistance is very low...but the shield break is most useful for balanced input setups...note that even for a balanced input, the loop coupling is there, but the errors are coupled into both polarity inputs..
