That is, fact and value.One issue is what is audible. Some amplifiers sound the same, some don't. DBTs or data obtained from DBTs is how one finds out.
Now then, you also have raised a question about whether well-designed amplifiers should sound different if operated according to their design specifications. That is a value issue.
