That was the exact same thing I thought when I first started reading. If I had left after the first page, I would be agreeing with you big time..I've taken issue with that "direction of current" thingy for years..and that "water flow" analogy..But then, things started to NOT add up..and it cascaded big time..
He seems to be stuck on rejecting the analogy's that are used to teach the layman..because they are not entirely correct..he is right on lots of them, but...how deep CAN you get when teaching this stuff..is it gonna be used?
He'd feel better if we started by teaching fourth graders how to derive and use maxwell's equations. Unfortunately, that is more information than most people need.. I also admit, it would be an impossible world for me to stomach if everybody knew and used maxwells equations like me (ewwww, a world of geeks..shudder).
The anecdotes are useful to give people a feel, an understanding, of the nature of electricity..without them information will not move at all..they are tools.
""See previous thread about "noiseless resistors" as an example (straw man fallacy and two other fallacies""
Wow..I dinna think anyone else was readin that thread...y'all...:-)
Geeze, if you thought that, why not speak up...I can handle critique...(yah, I'll cry a bit, but I'll get over it...:-))
Cheers, John
