I'm looking for a great vocal mic under 1500. I'm over the cheap condensers. The two in the subject line seem to be closest to what I want but I've heard neither. My frame of reference is: My c3000's won't take spl and they are too noisy, the sure ksm32 is too harsh for a lot of applications (like violin), I have a Cascade vx20 that sounds pretty good but not as smooth as I'd like. Any nominations? I'm also thinking about a tlm103. Pattern control would be nice but my circumstances are pretty well controlled - and in any good mic, it seems, the pattern control costs an extra thousand dollars. A wide cardiod would be good, and off axis coloration would be bad. I don't mind a little "character" as long as its not extreme. Thanks for your help.
