The rave for vertical line arrays continues but I have a few questions concerning the proper use of them.
It seems to me that a vertical array is not really a true line array unless it is exessively long(tall).
In a smaller outdoor venue (<500)what are, if any, the benefits of such as opposed to a more easily stacked trap box(s)?
I ask this because I am rebuilding my FOH cabinets. In the past I used a simple verticle DIY array of (12) 10" vented boxes with the HF in the center of the array. It has always been a real pain to stack. Within a narrow bandwidth it did appear to work well as an array. Recently several drivers were damaged by vermin in storage so, I must replace them. Damn barn rats! I am thinking maybe trap 15+2" maybe a more practical route to go. Its primarily used in an outdoor venue up to 100dbc at 100ft foh. Four Lab subs for bottom.
Any input from those using small vertical arrays and trap arrays would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
