It depends on how it's internally set up. If each set of inputs go to isolated preamp stages that are combined later then you're OK. However, what you may have on the balanced in is just a unity gain inverter that gives a negative signal to go with the positive one, leaving the unbalanced input connected in parallel with the positive input pin on the XLR, which will therefore also connect two devices plugged into it in parallel on that one leg, and there would be loading problems. Try running it with the balanced input, plug into the unbalanced a plain RCA plug, and then short the terminals on the plug. If you hear a difference that means the inputs are not isolated and you can't do it.
