A powered studio monitor is a good idea for this application. Here's what I would do. Buy some JBL studio monitors on Ebay second hand, L100's are great, and then a cheap second power amp - 50 watts will do fine. The keyboard has a preamp in it. That will sound like a million bucks and cost around 400. You need a studio monitor type speaker, or pro audio speaker because the keyboard can put out some really severe transients. The good news is you can use this rig for stereo too - so if she ever quits, or she wants to listen and play along, you've got the right rig.
