As stated before, they can "help" certain things. I think it works on the "Haas Effect"- what you hear first appears louder, more distinct. By crossing over the signal three ways, delaying the lows and mids in relation to the highs, then summing them, the highs are more apparent- delay the highs and lows, mids are more apparent, delay highs, lows and mids are more apparent. Can work well subjecively and selectively, but like the Aphex units used for so long,(adding upper harmonics) it ain't real, and eventually there's no place like home.
