Hey Chris,
Thank you for the responce!
I have seen the uptown site (they can't be bothered with answering my email!)and others but what I'm looking to do is build an automation system from scratch. (using existing midi controlers and so forth)
I realise that there are now a significant number of manufacturers building midi control surfaces with motorised faders which is exactly my point -- in a way. These faders should now be coming down to much more affordable prices and if I use stereo replacements I should be able to use the second conductive strip as a position sensor/midi control surface. What do y'all think??So then, what I am asking here is for anyone reading this who may have experience with similar systems to point me in the right direction research-wise (and posibly provide me with schematics) so I can begin some preliminary planning and cost estimates.
Specifically I need the following:
1) Information on using midi controler circuits to operate the fader including feedback from a position sensor pot.
2) Information on building midi surfaces using actual faders and switches to operate the "virtual" switches and faders on commonly used multitrak software such as Cakewalk and Cool Edit Pro, et al.
3) I really need to find good sources for these materials, in particular the motorised stereo faders as well as various other hardware and software items I will need to build this thing. It may be that it IS too expensive and I am not a wealthy man, but this console really sounds GREAT and if there is a possibility that it could be automated without having to make someones BMW payments indefinately, I think it would be worth looking into.
Thanks for reading all of this and I hope some adventurous soul will be able to help me explore the possibilities!
Regards,
George :-)
