"ALL amps that failed were LT series, either LT-1500's or LT-1000's. I no longer purchase Crest amps for my installations, as well as a few other Peavey products (new Digitool MX...5 out of 7 failed). We swapped the amps out with Crest Vs-1100's (for free per Crest) and have had no problems with them, although we've only tried about 15."----ok, thanks for the inside word. Seems like I have heard of reliability problems with Crest, but many swear that they sound the best. Oh well.
I think the QSC CX series sounds better than every other pro-amp in that price range. They are VERY well engineered (read: easy to use/tamper proof), and sound great.
----are they the same price as the PLX? Seem like the same amp in many ways....
They don't have the cooling problems that Crest and Crown have (sometimes Crowns shut down if they aren't properly ventilated), and are BY FAR the most durable, reliable products I've used. Hope this helps. Cheers!
----yeah it does. I appreciate your insight, as this topic is quite often discussed. I have read in the reviews on how QSC and Crown amps outperform expensive creampuff audiophile amps.
btw, what is your take on good pro amps vs home amps?
thanks
Darryl
