why....headroom
..headroom isn't really availabe in home gear. Ok there are a few exceptions, but they are very pricey. Especially if you want to drive a sub properly.
dynamics
... dynamics are better reproduced with quality headroom....especially at higher output. I am not saying a 200w sony is better than a bryston 3b
features (pro eq's, limiters for safety, compressor for better balance at high output)
I have read in a few places that the newer pro amps are up there, some even prefer them. All a matter of taste. I like output, as I find total refinement a bit too laid back .
I was down the smooth and refined path, but now I prefer a raw and powerful (and clean) sound...hope that clears it up....
not knocking good high end, just picking the appropiate poison.
