sick fender guitar need help

I own a 62' fender tele custom reissue, and the neck pickup sound is that of a well executed electronic fart, and I have heard that there is a way to change the sound of the pickup without replacing it. (By changing a cap. or something and was wondering of other guitar tech sites if you know of any. I am trying to salvage a real nice guitar
from a tragic closet death.
