Thank you for your very informative reply, your memory and knowledge is impeccable. Yes the manual claims a dynamic range of 110db, and a sampling rate of 644Khz and a bit rate of 644Kb/sec.
Your correct, in the the Technical background notes by Robert Adams state that the 700 uses Companded Predictive Delta Modulation.I agree with you in that there would be to many conversions in the chain, I was concerned with this as well. Can you or anyone suggest a media format that would work, other than the VCR/VTR tape media? Is there a burner/format that would do the job of recording the video signal without the compression/conversion problem?
As I mentioned in the orginal post, VHS/tape in not a good archiving media, I'm just thinking there may be a way to place the signal on to disc, I don't know.
Anyone else is welcome to chime in on this please.
