Hi Dan,Normally it ok to just wire two XLR cables in parallel and run one to each PA. Most dynamic mic are ok driving two mic preamp inputs and a condenser mic can probably drive 3 or 4 without a problem. The big gotcha to this is if you are using phantom power on your mixers. Only one mixer should be providing phantom power. You can handle this either by turning off phantom power on one of the mixers or by using a isolation transformer (this also makes sure that grounding issues between the mixers are eliminated).
The safest thing to do is to use a transformer splitter (Jensen makes the best audio transformers for this). If you are trying to setup a monitor mixer then the best solution is to buy a splitter snake. Most of the good snake cable manufactures make these.
Alternatively you could run a line level output from one mixer to a line in on the other mixer, but direct outputs from individual channels are not usually balanced so this isn't a good idea unless the two mixers are very close to each other (plus adjusting the channel trim on the first mixer will affect the level on the second mixer).
