Actually, it usually comes recommended to bridge amplifiers for subwoofer use. As you know, the subs reproduce the low frequencies, so you should be most concerned about the amps ability to pass high current at such frequencies. Bridging an amp really doesn't help achieve this, yet bridging an amp usually doubles the specified voltage slew rate. The bridging therefore seems more ideal for amplifying high frequency speaker units when high power is in demand. Actually, a slew rate greater than about 13 V/uS is not needed for high quality audio reproduction, so don't worry about that. Mainly, bridging is going to "concentrate" an amp's max power onto one "output channel." This means you will need twice the number of amps to achieve the power you want, depending upon the comparitive power ratings between amplifiers and configurability of each. Either buy two amps of half the power output you want, and bridge them mono, or buy one amp meeting the max power requirements and run it stereo at lower impedances to achieve the power. Typically, you will notice that most amps produce the same power bridged at, let's say 4 ohms, as it will produce in stereo mode, at let's say 2 ohms per channel. 1.) Consider that two amps of "x" power output will most always cost more than one amp of "2x" power output. 2.) Consider the number of drivers in your setup and the impedance loads configuarable with the number of amps you want to buy or already have. 3) Consider perhaps how much space you have if applicable. 4.) Bridged mode and stereo mode really doesn't matter, it's how much power the amp is rated for and it's load configurability that matters. Also, an amp will ususally produce less total distortion at higher impedances, where you would be in bridged mode. I hope this helps.
