Are you recording from the main output or an auxillary?If you are running an EQ on your mains, then there is the problem. The recorders are not recieving the befefit of the EQ.
If you are coming from the auxillary outputs, are you coming from pre or post?
Hint: The record out RCA jacks never really "did it" for me personally.
Recording live requires two soundchecks. One to level the sound for the performers and one to level your recording without affecting the main feed.
Usually, the best thing to do is to four-track from the group outputs, but even I do not do that. I have a Symetrix 450 line mixer in my live rig that is fed from my main outputs. I use it to feed my TEAC AD-3. I have a set of headphones hooked into board, and a set hooked into the TEAC.
