Here's some tidbits for you all.I bought a set of "Audio Digital 5000e" speakers out of the back of a brand new white delivery van. They were listed at 240 watts/side, liquid cooled, all the bells and whistles. The fellas told me that they were installing a system in a club and had been over-invoiced. They were just trying to make a quick buck on the trip back home. The speakers were packaged individually in convincing looking boxes, bubble wrapped, with invoices attached. The invoices listed them at $1500 Canadian each. I paid what I thought at the time was a decent grey area price of $150 each.
They don't actually sound all that bad, I've been using them since I got them, but I still feel like I was dry humped.
Here's the kicker... that was almost 8 years ago in a tiny little town in British Columbia, Canada called Princeton. I'd say don't feel too bad, this has obviously been going on for a really long time. Next time, I'm just going to stick with a decent dealership. Damn, I only found out about this yesterday... I feel so dirty...
Mike.
