I think that DACs make a bigger difference in the sound than the ADC. This is comming from someone who owns a prism 8 channel, an apogee rosetta, and a Benchmark AD2k. I sometimes prefer to use my panasonic sv 3700. Each has its own sound and generally is pretty decent. I dont use the masterlink that often as a ADC but it isnt terrrible. however I NEVER use its DAC which is the worst. A cheap I use a Meridian DAC 203 for a rounder sound and a MSB Link for a cleaner more forward sound. I would change the DAC first. however if you hell bent on buying a ADC, I think the Grahm Patten AD20 is the best bang for the buck. Although the input pots are hard to use, it does sound good for the cash. Or Look used for a Symetrix or Apogee AD500.

PS Even with my dislike for its DAC, I still love my masterlink.
