Re: DCX2496 or CX3400 Behringer Crossover for TriAmp setup?

I like the DCX for a couple of reasons... first off, it has parametric EQ built in which makes it perfect for voicing the speakers and cleaning up room modes. Second, it uses decent DACs so the CD player can run directly into it with a digital signal.

The price was just dropped by Behringer to $300, so considering it's a xover, DAC, and EQ all in one package it's pretty hard to beat.

I don't know what kind of amps you have, but my tweeter amps are tube with no gain control and I found that using a Jensen PC-2XR really helped. It's primarily designed to eliminate ground loop hum (and it does that quite well!) but even if you don't have a ground loop problem, it has a 4:1 stepdown transformer that converts from pro levels to consumer gain levels and goes a long way to reduce the noise floor.
