I couldn't find the info on the Tascam site, but did get it from http://www.synthony.com/news 2000.html (if you scroll down it's in the news stories somewhere)
Now there is a domestic version (looks identical) of this recorder, the TEAC RW-800 which in the UK can be picked up for around 350GBP. I own one of these and being domestic it has SCMS and will only use "audio" blanks. I tried the software mod mentioned and it works on them too.
So if you don't mind the lack of rack ears then you can save some cash on hardware and also the media to run the thing.
