Dig I/O is a must for recording from a DAT/CD/MD/ other digital device. Look for Soundforge 4.5H , great wav editor, cool edit pro is nice, Pro tools is free, from there site at www.digidesign.com
EFX comes with many programs, and direct X plug-in's are the norm.High speed hard drives are a must. At least 7200RPM, preferably SCSI.
128 Minimum RAM , 600 Celeron or above. AMD, PIII are fine.
