Amplifier Inpui Impedance.. Whats Better ??

Higher or lower ?
I am currently enjoying an Ashly FET 500 amp on my B&w 801's.
It has an input impedance of 20,000 ohms, balanced.
I am driving it with a Quad 99 preamp that only has rca unbaleaced outputs.
I simply ordered an RCA to XLR cable, and it seems to be working fine.
Most Home Stereo amps have higher input impedances then the Ashly.
All things being equal, whats better, and why ?
Does the lower input impedance of the Ashly make it more, or less sensitive to cable capacitance, etc ?
