Better, you can do much more using a speaker management DSP compared to an analog x-over anyday. Like Bill F. said just don't overload the inputs. I know of people using the DBX 480 and they're pretty happy with it. As far as I know the only unit that may be a little better is the Klark Teknik DN9848 but it's a lot more $$$ than the DBX unit.
