If anything, it will help, because the resonance may be slightly less.
Elmers, or titebond Carpenters adhesive would be my first choice. Be sure to spread it even, and clamp via laying the glue side down, and let the weight of the enclosure press the veneer.
I made a set of Klipsch LaScalas a "cacoon" using 3/4 inch birch, all around...sounded better.
