I have a midi setup with four synthesizers that I currently mix through a Mackie 1402-VLZ pro. It contributes a feeling of being played in a padded room--I guess this is a sort of compression. Whatever it is, I'd rather do without it.My ideal mixer would have 6 stereo line level inputs, two outputs with individual volume controls, and a third output for headphones. I don't need or want any EQ or effects inserts; I'm just looking for a way of combining my synths, and trimming their volumes. Having the knobs oriented horizontally--in front--and inputs in the back of 1 or two unit rack-mount would be my prefererence.
I am interested in a simple clean signal path and that's it. I haven't been able to find anything matching this description. Does anyone know where I could find somethinglike this, have it built for me, or maybe designed with me doing the building? I would like to keep the price below $1500 if that's possible--preferably below $1000.
