di and active pickups

i am using some active pickups on my bass and am thinking of bypassing the generally poor electronics in the bass to enter my mixer's mic pres directly. will i still need to use a di inbetween the two? i haven't tried it yet because i'm waiting to dismantle the electronics first.-- i only use the bass in the studio so taking them out is no big deal.
