Yep, The Bruel&Kjaer Microphones are the very best that I have, and love them for all sounds, all the time. I have 3529's, which are a matched pair , uses 135 Volts of phantom power, and are rediculously expensive. 10hZ to 20 KhZ +/-0.3 dB was the calibration standard for my set. They have been in use for many years, and have had no problems at all. I sold a pair of vintage U47's, because the B&K, just waxed them. Use them for vocals, instruments, drums, pianos, everything. They can handle in excess of 155 dB before the distortion is measureable, and when I record live, it just blows my mind. Hard to find any recording that can compare. Takes over 10 grand to get them, the cones, and the accesories, and the approved cords, which at that voltage, and quality, are 15 meters, for the long ones.
I hate to be bragging, but I have dosens of microphones, and the B&K's are (almost)all I use anymore. The Sony S600 Tube microphones are very nice, have a pair of them, cost close to the B&K, and when I need 4 mics going, I do it with the two sets. If I need more than that at the same time...next are the schopes, colette series, the senhisers(451's), the U87's, the R0des', all the way down to the 58's, 57, 565's 50's and 40's Shures.
Once you have heard ( or the musiucians hear) the B&K's...it is all over. I actually have some AKG's , that have never been unboxed...except the D112, and I rarely even use that one, unless for kick drum. I bought them for a singer who insisted I have the AKG's, and I said, I have your mics, but first...try these...Jennifer Warnes uses them....and that was that.
