I'd go with the line mixer :) You can usually pick up units like a Fostex 2016 for fairly cheap on eBay, and it's agood sounding mixer for low bucks. I don't recall how many busses it has.The Fostex will do 16-mono or 8-stereo. It's a little non-intuitive when it comes to configuring the front panel switches to do stereo vs. mono, so make sure that when you buy one that you get the owners manual with it.
