Brian,

After searching and reading threads for two weeks on
this unit, I decided to get one this weekend. Although
I had concerns about the Alesis in Chapter 11 chatter,
I just had to have one. Spent most of the weekend getting
familiar with unit and also performed an OS upgrade. That
actually went very well. It took longer for me download
the instructions and print them out then it did to do the
upgrade (version 1.23 to 2.02).

Too early to make any judgements. I only made one cd,
redbook from vinyl (at 20 bit 88.2), where i probably took
a little too much out with the EQ. It left the cd a little
dry, not much depth. Very clean though. Maybe it's lost in the
transition to 16/44.1, don't know.

I'll be looking for those magical settings trying to preserve
the air and depth of vinyl to a digital medium, if that's possible.
